Alice

…is an independent film in development.

Alice a coming-of-age movie, a love story, and a psychological thriller. The film follows one girl in search of redemption, and asks a question: can love overcome harm? It’s about growing up in 21st century England. Alice is romantic, beautiful, surprising, and tough.

Alice happend as a result of conversations between conflict photographer and journalist Bruno Beloff with writer and theatre director Stephen Clark. The result was a script, and a team of diverse contributors. But that was then. Out of Place Films has a short film in post-production to promote the feature.

Alice

Born Canvey Island, Essex 1992.

Alice Liddell

Alice makes a lot of people nervous. I mean, people tend to give her a lot of space. Or maybe ignore her and hope she’ll go away. Alice is clever and confident. But she also seems self-contained, very self-reliant. So there’s a sense that she doesn’t need you. That’s the scary thing. She can do what she wants.

In her own mind, Alice is delicately balanced. She does care about belonging. Put it this way, she’s trying to work out which people matter. She can get hurt. Sometimes she can shrug that off, sometimes not. But what matters is the plan, the next adventure, another place to go.

Alice is good looking. She would admit that to herself, on a good day. And this gives her opportunities that are decidedly transactional – adventures that would scare most people, but build her self-confidence.

Christina & Stephen

The more I thought about it, the more I loved her… a messed-up person… and a fairytale character in a real sense.

…and whether Alice can learn it for herself.
